Ship Meeting Minutes Regular Ship Meeting, 11/16/07 by Eurasia Lopez, Yeoman Call to order at 1930hrs Those in attendance: Eurasia, Monica & Mark Vanbibber, Adrian Testa-Avila, Pat Rogers OLD BUSINESS:: 1. Christmas Wrapping - we are doing Christmas Gift wrapping at Sport Chalet on DEC. 22 & 23 starting at 10 AM until ???? each day. Need ship members to sign up for time. Van Bibber family will try to cover open spots. Right now Peaches is scheduled to work BOTH days but he'll be out helping before & after his shifts. 2. Moving our large sailboat to Riverside ("the Sausser Plantation"). the sailboat will be moved to Riverside as soon as the license plate can be found and installed. Ship voted NOT to plan a work party in December. 3. Re charter time again! We MUST recruit at least 3 youth into the Ship in the next 4 weeks! I will ask a couple of friends at school. Mr. Adrian will ask a boy he knows. Peaches will ask the Riverside group trying to form a second Ship to join us instead. 4. Meeting changes: Starting in December the ship will meet twice a month. the 1st & 3rd Fridays at 19:00 at the Villa De Anza Retirement Home. Mr. Adrian will add this to our website as well as directions. The 3rd Friday will be the Quarterdeck meeting. 5. Running Springs fire relief update: Mr. Adrian brought photos of the weekend he & Brian helped out. We were told by the Relief workers that our efforts would be needed later so we are not scheduling anything soon. We voted for Peaches to research whether any Scouts or Scouters lost their homes. If so, we will use a portion of our Christmas Wrapping $$$ to purchase uniforms, books and camping equipment for them. For uniforms I will sew on the needed patches -- anyone want to help me? 6. The "Salty Rat" Canoe Trek was GREAT! The weather was perfect. We paddled all over Mission Bay in San Diego. We must have gone 9 miles! We met a great bunch of Venture Crews. Our muscles died when it was over. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Horse Show fundraiser: we voted to do the Indio Horse Show snack bar on Jan 12 & 13, 2008. We will serve breakfast both days and lunch on Saturday until they bring out the catered dinners. The Horse Show will pay for our camping (in tents!) 2. Spring break dates are from 4/7-4/11/2008 for planning any trips. Meeting Adjourned at 2038
Regular Ship Meeting, 08/16/07 by Eurasia Lopez, Yeoman Call to order at 1900hrs In attendance: Eurasia, Shelley, John Old Business: List upcoming activities available for Ship by dates: Sept. 1-3 (Labor Day Weekend) Vests For Life @ Lake Perris Sept. 14-16 Lake Lopez Cardboard Regatta Sept. 22 Sail Race with Arrowhead Power Squadron Sept. 29 Sheriff's Rodeo & Stampede Oct. 6 Dutch Oven Society's "Puppy" Oct. 13 ARC 1st Aid & CPR class Dec. 10-24 Christmas Gift Wrapping @ Sport Chalet After reviewing the list the Stampede was dropped as a Ship's activity for this year. Expanding on plans for the upcoming activities: 1. Labor Day weekend Vests For Life program REALLY needs our help on Sunday & Monday. Ship will also take a sailboat to Lake Perris for afternoon relaxing/sailing. Maybe a kayak will be available too. Ship members to bring lunches and drinks. Bring plenty of water too! Be sure to tell gate attendant that you are there for the Vests For Life program to enter the park free. Uniform is Ship T-shirts. Adults may choose Sea Scout Ship T-shirts or APS shirts. 2. Lake Lopez Cardboard Regatta. The Ship will camp and have Saturday breakfast. Lunch may be with USPS on the beach or just the Ship in campsite. Dinner - Ship will join USPS potluck with Dutch Oven fare. Ship will eat Sunday breakfast in campsite. Ship will bring "Bear Dog" and a sailboat. Kayak possibly. Uniform will be T-shirts for Regatta and "Working Blues" for potluck. 3. Sail race with APS. Ship members AND Learning For Life members can volunteer as crew members for APS sailboats entered in the Sept. 22 race. Crew members will bring a light lunch and plenty of water. Uniform will be Ship T-shirts. 4. Dutch Oven "Puppy" uniform will be "Working Blues". 5. 1st Aid & CPR class for entire Ship. Brink lunch & drinks. No uniforms. $25 fee. $5 for re-certification. 6. Christmas Gift Wrapping. Uniform will be "Working Blues". Pat will ask Sport Chalet - Mira Loma AND Redlands stores for 12/22 & 12/23 dates. (Sat & Sun.) 1000 hrs- dark. New Business: 1. For new members wishing to join the Ship. august 30 (Thursday) is set as a first meeting for the new applicants. The Ship's company will entertain prospective members with Dutch Oven treats and review the Ship's current 2007 calendar. New members are eligible to join planned activities after registering in Ship. Uniform will be: Whites for Skipper, Whites or Khakis for adults, Eurasia - Whites, Shelley & John - "Work Blues" or Ship T-shirt. At 1900 hrs, while guests are gathering, Ship members will show guests around the club grounds and our flotilla. At 1930 hrs we will meet in the clubhouse for treats (Dutch Oven donuts) and begin meeting. (Some adults will be asked to explain various activities.) During free time at Lake Lopez the Ship will meet to discuss next year's calendar. Everyone to bring ideas. We will decide at a later date what to include in Ship's 2008 calendar. 3. "Kokomo" is being moved to the Sausser plantation in Riverside for repair work as soon as Peaches can repair/apply lights & wiring to it's trailer. There the bottom & keel will be repaired/repainted and the rigging repaired or possibly modified.
