Addendum -Uniform and Insignia Guidelines
 

CREW WORK UNIFORM  
 

Shirt:

 Dickies light blue long sleeve work shirt with fold-down pocket flaps (tags removed).  “SEA SCOUTS B.S.A.” strip, white on navy, centered immediately above pocket flap.  Plain white crew neck undershirt.  
 

Insignia:

Hat:  Ship activity cap

Left Sleeve:  Petty Officer’s insignia centered 4” below shoulder seam.

Right Sleeve:  American flag, centered below shoulder seam.  Ship emblem, 1” below flag.

Left Pocket:  Sea Scout rank insignia centered on pocket.

Right Pocket:  (Optional.)  Nameplate, black with white lettering (First Class anchor with name on first line and office on second) OR Arrowhead USPS nameplate, centered above “SEA SCOUTS B.S.A."

  
 

Pants:

Dickies black work pants with tags removed (no pleats, double-knees, or cargo pockets).  Black web belt with Sea Scout or plain brushed silver roller buckle worn “metal-to-metal.”  Black socks and shoes.

 

  
 

CREW DRESS UNIFORM  
 

Shirt:

 Dickies white short sleeve work shirt with fold-down pocket flaps (tags removed), pressed.  “SEA SCOUTS B.S.A.” embroidered 3/4” above right breast pocket in black 3/8” block text.  Plain white crew neck undershirt.  
 

Insignia:

Hat:  Ship activity cap

Left Sleeve:  Council Shoulder Patch, centered touching shoulder seam.  No unit numerals.  Petty Officer’s insignia centered 4” below shoulder seam.

Right Sleeve:  American flag, centered below shoulder seam.  Ship emblem, 1” below flag.

Left Pocket:  Medals worn in a single row immediately above pocket seam.  No square knots.  Sea Scout rank insignia centered on pocket.

Right Pocket:  (Optional except for Petty Officers.)  Nameplate, black with white lettering (First Class anchor with name on first line and office on second) OR Arrowhead USPS nameplate, centered above “SEA SCOUTS B.S.A.”

OFFICER'S WORK UNIFORM  
  Shirt: Dickies tan short sleeve work shirt with fold-down pocket flaps (tags removed).  “SEA SCOUTS B.S.A.” embroidered 3/4” above right breast pocket in black 3/8” block text.  Plain white crew neck undershirt  
  Insignia:

Hat:  Naval Officer’s combination cover (male or female) with tan cover and Sea Scout hat band, insignia, buttons, and chin strap (silver for adults, black for youth Quartermasters) OR Ship activity cap

Collar:  Officer’s devices on each collar with crown ¾” from point of collar, centered on collar diagonal

Right Sleeve:  American flag, centered below shoulder seam.

Right Pocket:  (Optional.)  Nameplate, black with white lettering (First Class anchor with name on first line and office on second) OR Arrowhead USPS nameplate, centered above “SEA SCOUTS B.S.A.”

 Lighthouse Uniform white open collar short sleeve shirt, pressed, with Sea Scout buttons on epaulettes.  “SEA SCOUTS B.S.A.” embroidered 3/4” above right breast pocket in black 3/8” block text.  Plain white crew neck undershirt.  
  Insignia:

Hat:  Naval Officer’s combination cover (male or female) with white cover and Sea Scout hat band, insignia, buttons, and chin strap (silver for adults, black for youth Quartermasters)

Shoulders:  Embroidered Officer’s epaulettes

Left Sleeve:  Council Shoulder Patch, centered touching shoulder seam.  No unit numerals.

Right Sleeve:  American flag, centered below shoulder seam.  Ship emblem, 1” below flag.

Left Pocket:  See the Sea Scout handbook p.114 for embroidered knot guidelines; medals and the Sea Badge embroidered knot are not worn on Ship uniforms.

Right Pocket:  Nameplate, black with white lettering (First Class anchor with name on first line and office on second) OR Arrowhead USPS nameplate, centered above “SEA SCOUTS B.S.A.”  Sea Badge pin centered ¼” above nameplate.
